Bassett House Grounds

Burlington Friends Meeting has two 1850s buildings, surrounded by lovely and extensive gardens and grounds.  The former carriage barn, now the Meeting House, is fully handicapped-accessible and features a naturally lit open space with comfortable chairs for 60.  The entry area has a sliding wall that can separate it into two spaces.  The entry also has a hospitality center with sink, microwave, mini-fridge, dishwasher and coffee and tea service.  There are two rest rooms, one of which is accessible to wheelchairs.

The Bassett House, originally the home of Mary Martha Fletcher, for whom Burlington's hospital and library are named, provides a full kitchen, an intimate library space, one rest room and 2 additional rooms, one large enough for 25 people. This building is not handicapped-accessible.

Our Meeting encourages the use of our property by groups fostering kindred spiritual growth and personal support.  This welcoming meeting and event space is environmentally friendly and close to downtown Burlington.

Rates

Non-Meeting groups are asked to contribute to the costs associated with the space.
For individuals and groups holding free events,
the rate is $15/hour, $90/day or $75/day for 3 or more dates booked at the same time.

For events at which attendees are charged a fee, rates per building are $20/hour, $120/day, or $100/day for 3 or more dates booked at the same time.

For events booked by institutional, corporate or business groups, rates per building are $25/hour, $150/day, or $125/day for 3 or more dates booked at the same time.

For large groups of 50 or more or those using the grounds, rates will be negotiated with the Scheduler.

There is no additional charge for use of the hospitality center in the Meeting House or the kitchen in the Bassett House, provided that building has been reserved by your group.  We ask that you serve only light refreshments, not full meals, in the Meeting House.

In order to support the leadings of individuals within the Burlington Friends Meeting community and to assist worthy non-BFM organizations, Burlington Friends Meeting may alter contribution rates in response to circumstances. To apply for a waiver send a written request to the Property Committee.

Please read our guidelines for the use of our space.
